Excerpt from an email to Tom Fontana...
It’s comfortable knowing that there is that solid team in the background. It’s one reason why I wanted Bosch VMS and why I worked to get Comnet switches in the backbone.
That “team” concept is what attracts me to Bosch. I do NOT find that with others to the same degree which is why I’ve been fortunate – Purchasing, which normally only looks at price, is receptive to value for the price provided I can verbalize it and demonstrate it which I did way back when I started the procurement process. I was not about to embark on such a technologically advanced product without a solid support team and I told them that. I need it for my own peace of mind, too, as well as the chance to learn. That is of extreme value to all stakeholders. It’s also why I share my experiences with BVMS as it’s a team effort.

Matt, It's very much appreciative to provide information like this so that Security related Professionals can get properly educated as so many are tied up on daily responsibilities that results on what I call "Missing the Boat" on the various innovative Technologies. This information is also refreshing to some but most importantly it identifies how scalable and friendly Internet Protocol (IP) systems are so that hesitate individuals can built the confidence levels they may require to open up to these great innovative technologies.

Hi Matt, Awesome post. This post is really very nice. I like your useful report about security camera which is very useful. Keep up your good work! Thanks to share this useful post with us.

Side note: Rick Buehler is still the fastest at providing a quote on the same day than any other vendor. He usually provides it almost before I can send the quote request. I have not dealt with anyone as quick as he is and very knowledgeable on all of the products that you represent. Mark is great with IDS, Gina is always very helpful.

Joe, thanks for the really, really, quick response. Impressive.
Don B., EngineerTom, I get the news feed all the time and do look at them. We do not get into security systems or cctv all that much at this time, but I do like to know what is happening in that arena.
I think the calculators and even the advice on how to look at system and sort through what a customer really wants are real helpful.
When we do get a real lead to follow up on, I plan on calling your office for assistance so we get it right, all the way down to inviting you on a walk thru.
Thanks to you and your whole team for putting the good articles out there, they are Great.

Carl M,G’day Tom, I have come from a predominately fire background so I have been searching for information that continues to either add to my understanding or can be utilized as a tool to help communicate with our customers.
Your demo of the Starlight cameras has helped to differentiate from my competition by sharing this information with customers. I have found that the camera / VMS offering is changing so quickly that you must make an effort to keep up to date and your information has helped a great deal.
I would be amiss without using this platform to commend Rick Buehler for his efforts. Rick is extremely helpful and quick to reply with not only quotes but technical information that makes my learning curve quicker.
Kind Regards, Rohan B
Matt, really nicely done support for the people in your area of service!!!!!

David G, New York, NY 4-2015Matt, Thanks much for the valuable info & enjoyed last weeks training session. As usual, the MidChes team provided excellent, substantive product & operational details. You were in the field so I did not have opportunity to chat with you. The team has done fine job on the training room improvements.
Best wishes for you & your group's continued success.

Rick,
This is one of the highest quality responses I’ve EVER gotten to a product info request. Very appreciative of your time and the effort you put into assisting us. It looks like the illuminator is fitted with a wall-mount out-of-the-box; do any models come fitted for mounting on a pole? I do need information on bulk or tiered pricing when you have a chance, unless that is already built into the quote you prepared for me.
Thank you again -

(from Rick initially)
Hello xxx,
Nick and I discussed your below email and he asked me to provide the requested information. The Dinion Camera, housing, lens, mount and IR illuminator are not available as one package part number. We do have to break out the individual parts which would have to be field assembled. A quote is attached that includes the Starlight Camera, Lens options, an outdoor housing with wall mount, an optional pole mount adapter, IR Illuminator options, a “telemetry cable” for the illuminator/camera communication and a power supply. You will have to power both the illuminator and the outdoor housing. The housing has a heater/blower that draws too much for POE and the IR Illuminator is also not a POE device. The camera is POE, but when placed in a powered outdoor housing, you just connect the camera to the power block of the housing and power both. We can only use POE for the Dinion camera when it is indoors in a non-powered housing. The housing quoted is the UHO-HBGS-10. This is the only outdoor housing for the camera. This will protect the camera from the outdoor environment. The illuminator can attach to this housing (see attached “KBE w UFLED” manual, which shows how these two connect without any additional hardware). The illuminator is outdoor rated and does not need to be in any additional housing. The illuminator and camera can communicate and switch based on low light by using the telemetry cable that is also quoted.
Below are links to each product that will provide you with access to data sheets, CAD drawings (if available), manuals and other pertinent information.

Eric B: Hello - Does the D7412GV3 panel still use the DX4020 for LAN communication? I can't find the device in our price guide.
MidChes: Good question. I need to check with Alex Caesar on this question. Do you have a sec for me to reach out to him?
Eric B: Sure! If can
MidChes: He said you need a B426
MidChes: That is the most current part number, DX4020 is not a current part number
Eric B: Okay. If its the same part then we're good... Thanks! Love this interface. I'm working late, and you got me what I needed!

Again, a huge personal THANK YOU from me is presented to you both for your “fight” to solve our camera issues. Though it was very time-consuming on your part, the energy spent was worth the effort. Hopefully, everyone learned from this “adventure”.
You truly saved my “sanity”…

From: Bruce Y., Major Projects Group Sent: 3:24 PM Rick, Can you please provide pricing for the following ComNet product? I am really sorry for the late notice - I really need this by EOB tomorrow. Please let me know if you have any questions. CWGE24MODMS/chassis, CWGE24MODMS/8TX, CWGE24MODMS/8FXSFP, SFP-16, SFP-6, and CNGE2FE24MSPOE - Do they make this in a non-hardened option? 24port PoE?
From Rick, Chesapeake Marketing Sent 3:30 PM A quote is attached. I’ve also attached the data sheet in case you need to look at it. This switch and the 8 port switch require you to purchase the power supply separately. I quoted these at the bottom under your main list.
From: Bruce Y., Major Projects Group Sent: 3:38 PM How in the world did you do that so fast? Thank you!

Hey Tom….
FYI…….Wanted to let you know I finally closed the deal to install (1) Bosch DHR 751 with (14) VDI-245, (4) NTC-255-PI and (2) VDN498…..many thanks for your input and support. I have a feeling we may need you at this site in future!!! I am sure there will be “questions”!!

Steve,
It looks like as of last Wednesday afternoon, we finally had all the sites talking to each other and bringing up trunk line video. Just as an FYI, one of our last issues that we had to work through involved DIP switches on the new Code Merger boxes. The "Default" configuration of the DIP switches was what we needed to make everything work correctly, however the DIP switches themselves were not set to the correct "default" positions when taken out of the box. I'm not sure if this is a problem that Bosch has had in the past, but just wanted to let you know.
Also, now that we are pulling up video from multiple other sites over the VIP encoder/decoder setup, I'm seeing a "video rolling" effect when switching between cameras. It almost looks like a phasing issue. I was going to attach a video clip to this email so you could see what I'm talking about, but it was 47M and too large to send. If you definitely need to see it, I can upload it to our FTP site for you. Have you ever seen this before? If so, any suggestions?
Thanks for all your help in the field on this project. Without you coming up, we may still be stuck in that control room trying to figure this out!!!
